SPANISH FOR SENIOR CITIZENS

This program is designed for seniors for whom education is a lifelong adventure to be shared with enthusiasm. Our school provides this great opportunity in a complete Spanish immersion environment.

Participants will be actively involved in activities and share new ideas within a group that has the common passion of learning.

Program:

  • 2, 3 or 4 weeks program
  • Intensive Spanish course at your proficiency level, from beginning to high intermediate: 10    hours/week
  • Ecuadorian culture through elective courses taught in English or Spanish:
  • Ecuadorian history and geography: lectures and readings
  • Ecuadorian Culture: visual arts, crafts, music, gastronomy, literature
  • Conversation about present-day topics: fashion, ecology, economics, politics
  • Field trips
  • Cultural exchange by living with an Ecuadorian family
  • Weekend excursions:

*Sachatamia Lodge, 2 day program.

Participants will depart from Quito on early Saturday morning in a comfortable van and take direction north-west. In 2 hours they will reach the Tulipe, archeological site-museum, where they will be able to observe the grand ceremonial center of the yumbo culture.

After a one hour tour they will take a snack and continue half an hour, arriving at lunch time to Sachatamia Lodge, located in an ecological reserve of the Protected tropical rain forest of Mindo, northwest from Quito, renowned for its great biodiversity, being the first place of bird species in the world.

This lodge is a specialized center for birth watching. In the afternoon they will be able to walk and observe the great variety of birds and other fauna and flora. Next day depart back to Quito in the afternoon.

Participants will have the opportunity to visit the most famous indigenous market in Ecuador where they can find an impressive variety of all kinds on handicrafts. Departure from Quito in the morning towards the North, in about 2 hours it is possible to see San Pablo lake and Imbabura volcano. Once in the city of Otavalo they will visit the Indian market and then have lunch.

In the afternoon, visit Cotacachi a small village, with excellent leather work and then take the rute to Cuicocha crater lake with an impressive landscape.

Overnight at the hotel, Sunday morning visit Hacienda Zuleta with its famous embroidery of indigenous women’s clothes, in the afternoon, back to Quito.

Participants should prepare their senses to perceive all the colors and sounds of the Amazon Jungle and to experience a unique sensation: being part of the most perfect Ecosystem in the earth. Departure from Quito on early Thursday in a comfortable van.

Participants will depart from Quito on early Saturday morning in a comfortable van and take direction north-west. In 2 hours they will reach the Tulipe, archeological site-museum, where they will be able to observe the grand ceremonial center of the yumbo culture.

After a one hour tour they will take a snack and continue half an hour, arriving at lunch time to Sachatamia Lodge, located in an ecological reserve of the Protected tropical rain forest of Mindo, northwest from Quito, renowned for its great biodiversity, being the first place of bird species in the world.

This lodge is a specialized center for birth watching. In the afternoon they will be able to walk and observe the great variety of birds and other fauna and flora. Next day depart back to Quito in the afternoon.

In the afternoon, visit Cotacachi a small village, with excellent leather work and then take the rute to Cuicocha crater lake with an impressive landscape.

Overnight at the hotel, Sunday morning visit Hacienda Zuleta with its famous embroidery of indigenous women’s clothes, in the afternoon, back to Quito.
